Welcome to our family here at Namaste and to the wonderful world of Yoga. Here are just a few tips to maximize your wellbeing!
- Refrain from eating a large meal 3hrs prior to class. It is very uncomfortable to do yoga on a full stomach and you may get sick.
- Avoid caffeinated beverages prior to class. In yoga we do a lot of balancing and it’s difficult to balance when you are shaky.
- Wear comfortable clothing that you can easily move around in.
- Take advantage of coming early to class so you can have a couple minutes to lay down on your mat, tune into your breathing and start leaving your worries behind.
- After class be sure to drink plenty of water, this will help rid your body of toxins.
- If you feel pain or dizziness YOU MUST COME OUT OF THE POSE. Listen to your body first, your teacher second and try to tell your ego to shut the f*** up.
- Bring what you learn on the mat into your day. If you feel stressed remember to breathe. When you feel tired do some stretching to “recharge your batteries.” Yoga is more than the time you spend at Namaste, it’s a lifestyle.
- Feel free to ask any questions or make any comments to your teacher after class.
Studio Etiquette
- Please turn your cell phone and all electronics off upon entering Namaste.
- Please refrain from wearing perfume.
- Please keep conversation to a minimum while in the studio. If you need to talk please whisper.
- After class please wipe down your mat and put away all props before enjoying tea.
- Please be mindful of our planet and use the recycle bin.
- Please do not disturb the class by coming in late.

* Hatha- "ha" means sun and "tha" means moon in Sanskrit. The word "yoga" means to yoke or unite. The main objective of Hatha Yoga is to create absolute balance.
* The word "Ayurveda" roughly translates to "knowledge of life." Ayurveda is an ancient Indian system of complete health care. Encompassing physical, social and spiritual harmony Ayurveda goes hand and hand with yoga to create balance and bliss.
